by Earl Haubner
The Restoration Herald - Oct 2026
Earl and Ruth Anne Haubner moved their family to Brazil in 1969 from their hometown of Georgetown, Ohio, following Earl’s graduation from Cincinnati Bible Seminary. They started planting congregations in the Goiania area, placing a high priority on discipleship and the training of leaders.
From his earliest missionary days, when Earl began studying with a person, he offered a guarantee that if they would study the Word of God with him for one month, their life would change. Central Brazil Mission (CBM) developed a theme for their work: to make disciples, make better disciples, and you will make more disciples. You will notice this recurring theme in Earl’s brief replies below.
Over the past fifty-seven years, the work of CBM has exploded, leaving an impact across the vast nation of Brazil and beyond. The mission has sent its own missionaries to other parts of Brazil and to Portuguese-speaking nations in Africa. Since 2000, they have impacted more than seventy villages in the Amazon River basin through a medical boat ministry called “Project Amazonas: Christ, Life & Health.” This unique ministry has shown the truth of one of Earl’s convictions that where Jesus goes, everything gets better.
It is estimated that the ministry of the Haubner family and CBM has resulted in approximately 50,000 baptisms. Since 2022, Earl and Ruth Anne have lived in Ohio but still make numerous trips to the Amazon region to help with the medical boat ministry.
